BZ - Detecting power theft using Amazon OpenSearch and smart meters data in near real-time

Power distribution networks are hundreds of kilometers long. Power theft is a serious issued faced by power supply companies. It is practically difficult and challenging to physically inspect and detect power theft. By detecting this in a timely manner, we can help save substantial amounts of money. In this session, we discuss the use of smart meter data to effectively detect anomalous consumption behavior, using Amazon OpenSearch. We also showcase how Amazon Kinesis is used to ingest and pre-process the data.

AWS services: Amazon OpenSearch, Amazon Kinesis Data Firehose, Amazon Kinesis Data Streams, Amazon S3 and Amazon Simple Notification Service (Amazon SNS), AWS Glue
